Deadly crash shuts down Highway 401 in Mississauga
One person dead, another injured after multi-vehicle collision
Westbound traffic closed at Dixie Road
A fatal collision has closed a major highway in Mississauga, causing major traffic delays.
The crash happened on Highway 401 westbound near Dixie Road at around 7:09 a.m. Tuesday. A male pedestrian standing outside of a vehicle was struck by another vehicle and a transport truck. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. A female passenger in the vehicle was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The westbound express lanes of Highway 401 are closed at Dixie Road. Traffic is being diverted to the collector lanes. Motorists are being advised to avoid the area if possible.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
