Amazon Moving into Westmoreland County

New Fulfillment Center to Open Soon

Former Sony Building to be Used

KDKA -- Amazon has confirmed that it is building a new non-sortable fulfillment center in Westmoreland County. Governor Tom Wolf announced the news on Tuesday, saying that the facility will be located near the former Sony building.

The fulfillment center will not be used for sorting items, but instead will be used to store and ship items that have already been sorted at other facilities. This will allow Amazon to get items to customers more quickly and efficiently.

The new center is expected to create up to 1,000 new jobs in the area. Amazon has not yet announced when the center will open, but it is expected to be operational by the end of the year.
